1. Board Supports Request to Ease Restrictions on New Peninsula Water Meters The board voted 3-2 to approve a letter supporting the Monterey Peninsula Water Management District’s request that the State Water Resources Control Board modify Condition 2 of the 2009 Cease-and-Desist Order. The condition has limited new water meters and new water use in the Cal-Am service area. The district cited four years of Carmel River pumping within legal limits, supply currently exceeding demand, and additional storage in the Seaside Groundwater Basin. Its proposal includes reporting and enforcement safeguards intended to keep diversions within legal limits. The board’s vote supported the request; it did not change the order.
